Weekend in IL

This past weekend, we headed down to IL. What a fun time!  I was sad to leave, but also ready to move on with life up here in WI.  Now that we’re back, Ryan wrapped up OB/GYN and is on to his Neuro/Psych rotation, the last 6 weeks of 3rd year!

Anyway, we went back for Mother’s Day, as well as to celebrate some May birthdays in the Funk family.  Erin, Alex, Dusty, and Ryan all have birthdays in May, so it is a big month!  Erin had also planned a surprise party for Dusty’s 30th, so we were so glad it worked out to be back for that, too.

The weekend in some pictures:

Saturday was the most amazing weather!  Cousins playing on Saturday morning:

I love seeing them have fun together!

Saturday evening was Dusty’s party.  It was awesome to see some good friends there.  The boys LOVED this little car—between all the children, the batteries were pretty worn out by the end of the evening!  At one point, Charlie wanted driving alone, but he wasn’t able to control the gas with his foot.  So, he simply reached down and pressed it with his hand.  Pretty hilarious to see the car driving around “without a driver”, as he was completely bent down to reach the pedal!  That soon came to a halt, though, when he hit the wall, since he couldn’t see with his head down!

It worked better with Abe behind the wheel….Moving fast!

Happy 30th Birthday, Dusty!  He was surprised!

The next day we went to my Aunt Linda’s home for Mother’s Day.  After dinner the boys got to drive the golf cart!  With Grandma and Papa:

We were able to stay Sunday night too, as Ryan had a study day on Monday.  After a relaxed morning and lunch at Papa’s bank, we said good-bye to IL again.  The boys slept a good portion of the trip home, and so ended a wonderful weekend!
